In order to complete the study on food webs, a specific section on the relationships between pelagic prey and top predators will be developed.

Food web modelling usually uses data from the literature for these compartments. The members of the Eolien en Mer SIG wanted to go further and asked the consortium in charge of the study to carry out sampling and observation campaigns at sea on prey-predators, with a twofold objective:

• To take samples of pelagic fish (diversity, abundance, biomass, isotopes, stomach contents)
• To carry out concomitant fish/megafauna observations in order to better document prey/predator relationships.

It will therefore be a major advance in this type of food web modelling approach to include direct observation data.
