Open sea communities

Open sea or pelagic communities live in the water column. The Éolien en Mer SIG studies focus on species that drift with the currents (phyto- and zooplankton) or can swim against the currents: cephalopods and fish. Fishery resources, i.e. species exploited by fishing or fish farming, are mainly found in these open sea communities.
