As part of the study on food webs, a major section is devoted to benthic communities.

Several specific samples were taken from this compartment: a Van Veen grab for species living in sand and gravel and a suprabenthic sledge for species living just above the seabed. These samples were taken in spring and autumn and will be used for stable isotope analyses.
